The Structure and Function of the Skin in the Cold
نویسندگان
چکیده
The skin may often be assessed as nonimportant, passive, cosmetical cover or frame of human being. As a living organ forming the surface of the human body towards the environment, the skin plays, however, an essential role in the perception of the environmental temperature and its changes. The skin also plays an active role in maintaining the thermal homeostasis of the body by many necessary structural and functional skin responses, mainly by regulating the dissipation of thermal energy to the environment. During the late phase of cooling of the body, the skin may partly turn into a passive insulative bark of the body diminishing thus the thermal loss to a minimum. In a recent disser tation the behaviour and thermophysiology of skin in the cold is reviewed (Lehmuskallio 2001).

Evaluation of chitosan gel on burn wound healing and keratinocytes function
Skin burns are common skin injuries that can result from exposure to various sources of heat by which, depending on the cause, different degrees of burns are generated. In restoration of superficial burns by re-epithelialization, the skin is rebuilt, but the skin color is different than the healthy tissue. Keratinocytes represent the major cells of the epidermis. These cells are sourced from ec...

Formation of nano/ultrafine grain structure in AISI 304L austenitic stainless steel through the martensite reversion treatment was studied. The solution annealed specimens were cold rolled up to 95 % thickness reduction at -15°C. The cold-rolled specimens were subjected to reversion annealing treatment at the temperature range of 700-1000 °C for 10–150 min. Microstructural evolutions were analy...
